UNICOM Systems Inc.’s System Architect enhances its certified TOGAF 9.2 support for TOGAF 10.
No conversion is necessary between architectures built with TOGAF 9.2 (or earlier) and TOGAF 10 – you can simply open an encyclopedia that is set for TOGAF 9.2 or earlier, and then work on it with TOGAF 10. System Architect automatically performs necessary renames, and provides new functionality as indicated below:
•Metamodel changes: System Architect's TOGAF metamodel support has been changed to account for the minor metamodel changes made to the TOGAF content metamodel between TOGAF 9.2 and TOGAF 10. These are the most notable changes:
•Business information is a new definition type added for TOGAF 10. Business Information is modeled on the new Information Model Diagram.
•Application service: the IS Service definition was renamed to Application Service.
•“Course of Action” plays a more pivotal role in TOGAF 10 – with relationships to many business layer definitions.
In System Architect, “Course of Action” is implemented as Strategy and Tactic definitions – as specified by the Business Motivation Model (BMM). Additional relationships have been created to these two definition types to map to all relationships specified to “Course of Action” in TOGAF 10's metamodel.
•Property relabels for relationships: A number of Property names of relationships between definitions have had their name changed per changes to the TOGAF 10 specification. In System Architect, the property names were simply relabeled, so there is no conversion necessary between prior versions of System Architect and this one.
•New diagrams: these new diagram types are available with TOGAF 10 support:
•Information Model.
•Solution Concept Diagram.
•Organization Map.
•Data Migration Diagram.
•Application Migration Diagram.
•New matrices: these new matrices are available with TOGAF 10 support, accessed by selecting View, Matrix Browser:
•Strategy/Business Capability matrix.
•Tactic/Business Capability matrix.
•Business Capability/Organization matrix.
•Entity/Function matrix.
•Application Component/Entity matrix.
•Application Component/Organization matrix.
•New Catalogs (or reports): these new Catalogs – or reports – are available with TOGAF 10 support, accessed by selecting Reports > Report Generator, and then opening the file TOGAF.rpt:
•Requirements Catalog.
•Business Capabilities Catalog.
•Stakeholder Catalog.
•Technology Standards Catalog.
•Usability enhancements: new menu bitmaps have been provided for TOGAF relationships on the Draw menu of most diagram types. In addition, these definitions now have new draw symbols assigned to them:
