The UAF Summary and Overview: Conceptual viewpoint provides a high-level graphic of the Operational and Resource architecture. It is similar to the OV-1 of DoDAF 2.
This diagram’s Draw toolbar provides appropriate UAF artifacts such as all Asset types, with underlying data centric behavior, but is typically built using the Draw > Picture > File Copy command to place an external .jpg, .png, .svg, .wmf, or .bmp on the diagram.
Sometimes the architecture team receives a graphic created by the graphic arts department, which they can paste onto the diagram. You can also paste external pictures and connect them with a conceptual ArbitraryConnection (UAF) line.
Users can then use the Edit > Child Diagram command to link the concepts to viewpoints of the actual architecture.
As an advanced option, System Architect’s metamodel can be readily customized to provide preset images on the Draw toolbar for use in creating this diagram type.
