Drawing Message Flows on business process diagrams
To depict flow to processes in different pools, you draw Message Flows.
When you place a pool on a diagram, you are provided with a truncated lane. The lane is only increased to enclose any contents drawn within it.
1 To draw message flows that connect to “black box” lanes:
▪Draw two pools on the diagram.
▪Draw one message flow between them.
▪Select the message flow and drag it to the right. The lane is increased in horizontal length to accommodate your moving of the message flow line.
2 Message Flows can cross a pool boundary to attach to the appropriate process. To draw Message Flows to “white box” lanes, draw a Message Flow from a process in one pool to a process in a separate pool.
The following image shows an example of a diagram with Message Flows connecting processes in two pools.
