OV-06c Event Trace (DM2) diagrams
The Operational Event Trace Diagram is sometimes called a sequence diagram, which shows interactions in terms of messages, or information transfers, between activities arranged in time sequence. You can use the Event Trace diagram by itself or with an Operational State Transition diagram to describe dynamic behavior of activities.
Note As of System Architect 11.4.2, the OV-06c Event Trace (DM2) diagram has been replaced by the OV-06c Activities Event Trace (DM2) and OV-06c Performers Event Trace (DM2) diagrams.
Drawing Operation Event Trace diagrams
The Event Trace diagram shows Activities involved in the scenario by vertical dashed lines. Horizontal line symbols, called ActivityResourceOverlap lines, between the Activity timelines represent the messages passed between the Activities. The ActivityResourceOverlap lines are drawn chronologically from the top of the diagram to the bottom; the horizontal placing or spacing of ActivityResourceOverlap lines is arbitrary.
Adding events
When ActivityResourceOverlap symbols are added to a Sequence diagram they must be attached to the vertical dotted line representing an Activity. They are placed horizontally as simple messages.
