Creating PV-02 Project Timelines (DM2) diagrams
The PV-02 provides a timeline perspective on programs or projects, with the key milestones and interdependencies. PV-02 graphically displays the key milestones and interdependencies between the multiple projects that constitute a program, portfolio, or initiative.
PV-02 supports the management of capability delivery and should be aligned with the CV-03 Capability Phasing model, if one exists. Here is a sample diagram:
PV-02diagram sample.
1 Click File > New Diagram.
2 In the Select All Methods dialog, select PV-02 Project Timeline (DM2).
3 Type a diagram name and click OK.
In the new diagram, set the diagram properties and add symbols as needed.
You can specify the following diagram properties:
Description: A description of the diagram
Behavior: Use to control the graphical depictions on the diagram, such as:
Milestones filtered by topmost project; phase colors come from settings in topmost project
Use pink as the default only for the pre-first milestone color when not filtering
Base rules check on topmost project
Run rules check automatically
You can add the following symbols to the diagrams:
Projects: All forms of planned activities that are responsive to visions, goals, and objectives that aim to change the state of some situation. The following property applies:
The project must have one or more milestones associated with it to get full use of this diagram. The milestones can be added on the Milestones chapter of the Project definition. A milestone has a name and an associated Milestone Date.
Dependencies: The dependency line can be drawn between milestones of a project or between milestones of different projects.
Key: The key provides a legend for the diagram.
