Defining IDEF0 model properties
You can define the properties of your IDEF0 model properties, such as description, purpose, and viewpoint.
OV-5 Activity Model diagrams are built in a logical grouping mechanism called a model. If you specify that the OV-5 diagram that you are creating is a Context diagram, System Architect mandates that you provide a model name. If the OV-5 diagram that you are creating is not a Context diagram, then you do not have to specify a model. You may do this later, when you have more understanding of to which grouping it belongs.
1 In an open OV-5 Activity Model diagram, right-click the diagram workspace; then click Diagram Properties.
2 Select the name of the IDEF0 model and click Define; then specify the following model properties:
Description
The Description box is for free-format text that you can use to describe your model.
Purpose
The Purpose box is for the reason for the model. For example, a model’s purpose might be to understand the current manufacturing process so that improvements can be made to operations.
Viewpoint
The Viewpoint box is for the perspective from which the model is being built. For example, a model could be built from the president of the company's point of view.
Time Frame
For Time Frame, select As-Is if you are creating a model of an existing situation or To-Be if you are creating a model of a future situation.
Node Tree Diagram (Node Tree)
You can assign a Node Tree Diagram to your model.
