Generating recursive capability dependency relationship check reports (ABM for DoDAF)
The Recursive Dependency Relationship Check searches for invalid relationships and warns you when any of these types are found.
The Recursive Dependency Relationship Check looks for and warns you when invalid relationships of these types are found. It is the same as the StV-4 Recursive Dependency Relationship Check of MODAF, but since the DoDAF specification does not call for it, it does not have any prefix for the DoDAF user - it is simply called the Recursive Capability Dependency Relationship check. DoDAF (ABM) methodology does not permit two Capability definitions to be Suppliers of each other. For example, a definition named “Capability_1” can be a Supplier of definition “Capability_2” and others. But at the same time, “Capability_2” cannot be a Supplier of “Capability_1.” Such a scenario would violate the check and the report would list the recursive definitions in a message like:
Capability_2 has recursive Supplier Capabilities reference to Capability_1.Capability_1 has recursive Supplier Capabilities reference to Capability_2.
To eliminate recursive supplier relationships, open an Capability Cluster diagram and disconnect the symbols defined by the recursive definitions. Removing the Capability Dependency line between the two symbols will remove the relationship. You may also run the Capability Dependency Matrix and de-select the intersecting cells to remove the relationship. It is the same as the StV-4 matrix of MODAF, but since the DoDAF specification does not call for it, it does not have any prefix for the DoDAF user - it is simply called the Capability Dependency matrix.
Procedure
1 From the Reports menu select DoDAF (ABM) Reports.
2 Select Recursive Capability Dependency Relationship Check.
The Recursive Capability Dependency Relationship Check will automatically appear within the Report window. You may save, print or copy this report using standard Microsoft methods.
