Generating relationships between Functions, Process Threads, and Primary Process Groups on relationship map diagrams
You can create a relationship map diagram that automatically charts relationships between Functions, Process Threads, and Primary Process Groups.
If an Organizational Function performs an Elementary Business Process and that EBP is related to an EBP that is performed by another Function, then the Functions are related. Relationships between Functions and Elementary Business Processes are specified in the Elementary Business Process to Function matrix and in the functional hierarchy diagram.
Each Process Thread is represented by one or more Process Chart diagrams, which graphically show the Events, Processes, and Results of the thread, or part of the thread. If a Result from one Process Thread identifies a Primary Event from another Process Thread, then the Process Threads are related. Relationships between Events and Results are specified in the Event to Result matrix.
A process decomposition diagram describes the logical groupings of Process Threads by Primary Process Group. If a Process Thread that is part of one Primary Process Group has a relationship to a Process Thread that is part of another Primary Process Group, then the Primary Process Groups are related. (Process Threads are related when a Result from one Process Thread identifies a Primary Event from another.)
Note Primary Process Groups are listed as Description under Definitions in the Browser and when selecting Choices from the floating menu on the diagram workspace.
1 Create a new or open an existing relationship map diagram.
2 Place the Function, Process Thread, or Primary Process Group symbols you are interested in on the diagram workspace.
You can right-click the diagram workspace and click Choices to get a list of symbols in the current encyclopedia. Alternately, you can drag Functions, Process Threads, or Primary Process Groups from the Browser to the diagram.
3 Primary Process Group symbols are displayed as External Symbols. To transform the External Symbols to Primary Process Group symbols, select the External Symbols, right-click and selectTransform Symbol; then in the Transform Symbol dialog box, in the designated symbol list, select Primary Process Group.
4 Select the Function, Process Thread, or Primary Process Group symbols on the diagram that you are interested in, right-click, and select Dictionary > Balance Relationship Map.
The relationships between symbols are created in the diagram.
Note If a relationship exists between a Function on the diagram and a Function that does not exist on the diagram, the Function that does not exist is added as an External symbol.
