On the Network Concept diagram, a computer is considered a physical machine that contains RAM, a processor type, processor speed, a hard drive, an IP address, and so forth.

As a default, the following computer symbols are provided on the Network Concept diagram:

A laptop computer.

A handheld computer.

Personal Digital Assistant.

A tablet personal computer that provides a user interface that you can draw on using a special-technology pen.

The Network Concept diagram provides a list of server symbols that can be modeled either as software or as physical hardware devices. Alternatively, you can use this Server Machine symbol if you specifically want to define the server with physical computer properties.

A class of multiuser computers that make up the middle range of the computing spectrum, between mainframes and PCs.

Computers large in capacity that are used for mission critical applications.

A computer that leads the world in processing capacity and speed of calculation when it is introduced.

Use this symbol if you want to show a cluster of computers or computer users.

a display screen for data entry and display. Some modern monitors provide storage capacity and direct input from PDAs and other devices.

Use this symbol type if you want to show the computer as a rectangle encompassing other network objects within it. Once drawn, you can flip it back to looking like a computer by right-clicking the symbol and choosing Display According to Stereotype.

Use this symbol type if you want to show the computer as a cube encompassing other network objects within it; in other words, physically hosting other things such as Terminal Server software. Once drawn, you can flip it back to looking like a computer by right-clicking the symbol and choosing Display According to Stereotype.

Use this symbol if you want to specifically model end users viewing information on a web browser.

A network-management software tool, often using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
