The BPMN Process Flow diagram supports the Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) 2.0 specification and metamodel for process modeling. You may use the diagram to model the orchestration of processes that support an OperationalActivity, ResourceFunction, or ServiceFunction.
Mapping NAF to Process Orchestration
NAF v4 (based on UAF DMM) properties are provided to elements of the BPMN diagram, so that you can map the NAF architecture to the BPMN elements within a NAF tab in each BPMN element’s definition.
▪Process: You may map each Process to the OperationalActivity, or (Resource) Function, or ServiceFunction it performs/orchestrates. An OperationalActivity or Function viewpoint does not represent the ordering of what OperationalActivity or (Resource) function goes first, second, and so on – it represents transformation of resources. The Process view enables you to model orchestration of how OperationalActiviites or Functions are performed.
▪Swimlane and Pool: You may map each Pool and Swimlane – which represents the BPMN concept of Participant – to an OperationalPerformer, ResourcePerformer, or ServiceSpecification.
▪Sequence Flow: can be mapped to OperationalActivityEdge.
▪Message Flow: can be mapped to OperationalActivityEdge, Needline, Resource Interface, or Service Connector.
▪Gateway: can be mapped to an OperationalActivityEdge.
