NATO Architecture Framework (NAF) 3 was developed from the US Department of Defense Architectural Framework (DoDAF) and Ministry of Defense Architectural Framework (MODAF). NAF 3 maintains compatibility with the core DoDAF and MODAF viewpoints in order to facilitate exchange of architectural information, for example in conducting international interoperability analyses.
In the NAF 3.0 specification, DODAF viewpoints have been supplemented with three new viewpoints that support MOD processes and lifecycles. Therefore, NAF consists of seven viewpoints:
▪All Views (NAV): provides an overall scope of the architecture.
▪Capability View (NCV): deals with capability management.
▪Operational View (NOV): describes the required tasks and activities.
▪System View (NSV): deals with systems functionality.
▪Service View (NSOV): describes services that support operations.
▪Technical View (NTV): provides rules and guidelines for the architecture.
