Navigating from ICOM arrows to operational activities on other diagrams (NAF)
You can use the ICOM Navigator to select an ICOM arrow on a diagram, quickly find all associated Operational Activities that it is drawn to on other diagrams, and navigate to that diagram and specific symbol.
An ICOM arrow drawn out of a Operational Activity symbol can be represented on another IDEF0 diagram as an input or mechanism or control drawn into other Operational Activity symbols on other diagrams. In this way, Operational Activity symbols are connected by ICOM arrows on an inter-diagram bases.
1 Select an ICOM arrow on a context diagram; then click View, ICOM Navigator.
Note You can also right-click an ICOM arrow and select ICOM Navigator from the drop-down menu.
The ICOM Navigator presents all other ICOM arrows of the same name on the diagram that you have open, and if you have the Search Across All Diagrams selection toggled on, it additionally presents all ICOM arrows of the same name in parent or child diagrams of the IDEF0 model that you are in.
For each ICOM arrow, the ICOM Navigator specifies the Operational Activity node that it is connected to, and whether the ICOM arrow is an input or an output to that node.
Note The ICOM Navigator is designed to only examine all diagrams that are linked in parent-child chains in the same IDEF0 model.
2 Double-click an ICOM arrow in the list to open the respective diagram.
The diagram opens with the target node of the ICOM arrow selected.
