Representational consistency allows diagrams to automatically be maintained so that they always reflect the model. Represented symbols are automatically defined creating; definitions, explicit relationship, and implicit relationships as the diagram is modified.

The REPRESENTS keyword is used with symbols only and should be used in place of DEFINED BY when the symbol is required to be representational consistent with the model.
