Viewing linked resources in System Architect
When you link to resources from the Explorer Diagrams or Definitions nodes, from diagram properties, symbols on the diagrams, or through Explorer diagrams.
1 In System Architect, open an encyclopedia with external links.
2 Expand the Diagrams and Definitions nodes.
3 To view linked resources, use one of the following options:
Explorer
Move the pointer over the outbound link indicator for the diagram or definition to view the resources to which they are linked. If an object is linked to more than one artifact, a menu is shown with the abbreviated domain type (for example, EM, AM, CM) and the artifact name. Selecting an artifact shows a window with the artifact properties and a link to open the artifact in its original application. You can also select Show Incoming Links, which displays the List of Services dialog.
Diagram properties
Right-click a blank diagram area and select Show Incoming Links. You can also right-click a blank diagram area and select Diagram Properties, click the Links tab to view the OSLC Linkdefinitions.
Diagrams
Open the diagram with links to resources. Hover the cursor over the outbound link indicator for a symbol.
Defintions
Open a definition and click the Links tab. Although the Links section is 'grayed out,' you can click Define to open the OSLC Link definition, then view information about the link by clicking through pages 1 - 3 of the Introduction tab. Respectively, the pages show information such as Target Type, Target Name, Project URL, and Root Service URL.
Explorer diagrams
Explorer diagrams that contain OSLC Link definition symbols display special symbols next to the artifact. The symbols (or stereotypes) denote the type of external artifact. For example, links to Defects in IBM Rational Team Concert or IBM Rational Change show symbol with a bug and a chain link next to the linked artifact.
Results
The diagram is linked to the artifact that you selected and a new OSLC Link definition is created with link properties.
Right-clicking a linked symbol or definition displays the Remove Links menu option.
You can hover the cursor over the outbound link indicator for symbol (on the diagram) or on its definition in Explorer to display the properties of the artifact to which you linked. The data in the window is being pulled from the linked resource.
