Ensure no one is connected to or using the encyclopedia database you intend to detach. A database can only be detached if there are no current connections to it. You cannot detach a database that is being used, and you cannot use a database that is not attached to a server.
2 Select any database on the local server (by choosing Database, Select Database or select one from the drop-down menu in the database toolbar).
3 Select Database, Detach. The database is automatically detached. A detached successfully message is displayed in the Message Window.
If you attempt to open an encyclopedia that has been detached, a message appears that says, “The selected encyclopedia could not be opened for validation”.
