Example – using extraction specification levels
Assume you have a very large encyclopedia, and you want a list of all access path definitions related to diagrams in the encyclopedia. Completing the level specification as shown below prints the name and attributes of all access path definitions used by symbols on diagrams in the encyclopedia. Start by selecting the Diagram class for Level 1.
Notes
1 In the instructions below, only a few of the input fields and buttons on the Add Report dialog are described. For a description of all the areas, input fields and buttons associated with this dialog, see Areas, input fields, and buttons in Add Report dialog.
2 Class is selected using the field arrow for each level. All level specifications (class types) entries displayed here were selected using the options in the Where dialog.
Level 1 extraction
Specify your starting class as Diagrams, and specify the diagram type as “Entity Relation”.

The next level is made visible by using the scrollbar. Further levels are made available as you pick a class for that level, up to the maximum supported.
Level 2 extraction
Specify the Relation/Class specification as “contain Symbols” and the symbol type as “Entity” on the second level of the report.

Note Access path symbols are always defined by access path definitions, therefore, it is not necessary to specify the definition type in this report. Otherwise, you must select the type of definition you want to include.
Level 4 extraction
Specify the Relation/Class specification as “References Definitions” on the fourth level of the report, and then select the specifications for this level, followed by the Properties to Print (their names and attributes).

Generate report
To test the report, click Generate. This provides an on-screen report in an interactive grid which has Save and Print buttons.
