To create a diagram, select File > New Diagram > OK from the toolbar.
Diagram style
Then select the type of diagram style: Network or Landscape.
Network style
In the network style, when you create a new Explorer Diagram, relationships are represented by drawing line between the related symbols. This is the default.
Landscape style
In the landscape style, related symbols are represented as box-inside-box. You must drop only the definitions that are on the from side of a relationship, and then drop the relationship report on the diagram. The objects on the to side are automatically dropped in the parent objects.
Note Once a diagram has been created, you cannot change the style.
Defining landscape-style diagram properties
Positioning in 100ths of an inch
Allows for control of the horizontal and vertical spacing between symbols. This property is set the by default for new and existing diagrams.
Scale fonts on resizing collection
Allows the font to be increased or decreased on the resizing of Collection symbols. This property is set the by default for new and existing diagrams.
Override font on embedding nodes
Allows the font to be reduced as nodes are embedded to make more space available for symbol text. This property is set the by default for new and existing diagrams.
Refresh only when drop of symbols is complete
Allows suppression of refresh and view change until the drop is complete which can speed up the operation and avoid unnecessary view change when using the larger default collection size. This property is set by default for new diagrams.
Apply report styles on drop of report
Allows report styles to be applied to dropped symbols. This property is enabled by default for new diagrams.
Improved symbol layout behavior
Allows several actions to optimize object, definition, and symbol placement.
▪Allows drop of object reports onto whitespace or existing collection in accordance with the chosen diagram mode. Collection is added if necessary.
▪Allows drop of definitions or definition types onto whitespace or existing collection in accordance with the chosen diagram mode. Collection is added if necessary.
▪Allows neat layout of symbols inside parent collection in Children according to Parent mode, maximizing use of diagram space.
This property is enabled by default for new diagrams.
Default collection size of view size
Allows the Collection symbol to be drawn at the size of the current view. This property is enabled by default for new diagrams.
