The bounding box for a symbol is a rectangle that completely encloses the symbol. Symbols that consist of one or more line segments have one or more bounding boxes. The diagonal of each bounding box is defined by the end points of a single line segment. Selecting any point in the bounding box of any line segment selects the complete symbol. If bounding rectangles overlap, the system arbitrarily selects one of the symbols. By repeating the selection process, you can select the various overlapping symbols.

Text that is not enclosed in a symbol has a bounding rectangle that completely encloses that text area.
