Learn about setting up user rights to encyclopedias.
Configuring user access rights to servers, catalogs, and encyclopedias
Before users can connect to the server and begin work on encyclopedias or catalogs, you must configure the appropriate user access permissions to the Microsoft SQL Server. You can assign access rights to users that enable them to connect to database servers and to open, edit, and create encyclopedias and catalogs.
There are three common types of user, who require different access rights to perform their tasks on encyclopedias.
Standard user
These users have the minimum rights needed to access encyclopedias and catalogs. This role represents the majority of users who need to do basic tasks in the product, such as open, read, and update objects in an encyclopedia.
Administrator
These users manage database access permissions and upgrade System Architect encyclopedias and catalogs.
Database administrator
These users create encyclopedias and catalogs, create and restore backups, and set up user rights for encyclopedias and catalogs.
