Instance Level Access Control is assigned to groups only. In general, unless you create your own group defaults or override the permission defaults for the System Architect session, at the time that you create a diagram or definition in System Architect, the Everyone group would be selected as the group permitted to read and read/write the item you must create. You can select the group that can access the objects you create. Although you can use the default Everyone group to grant ILAC, the usual practice is to create different groups for greater control.
You can assign a group to users and groups\user or group\ilac group defaults. These defaults are used when no defaults are assigned to users and groups\user or group\encyclopedias\ency\ilac group defaults for encyclopedia or encyclopedias\ency\users and groups\user or group\ilac group defaults for encyclopedia.
To create a group
1 Click the top level Users & Groups node and select New Group. For example, create a UML Modelers group.
2 Expand the Users & Groups node.
3 Right-click the group you created in step 1 and select Copy.
4 Expand the following nodes: Encyclopedias, <your Encyclopedia Name>, Users & Groups, and <User Name>.
5 Right-click ILAC Group Default for Encyclopedia, and select Paste. The group you added can be assigned to objects you create in System Architect. The image below shows that UML Modelers Group is assigned to work on the ILAC-enabled Samples encyclopedia. To work on the ILAC-enabled encyclopedia in this example, a user must be a member of the UML Modelers group.
6 Repeat the steps for each group that you want to grant ILAC.
ILAC group defaults
ILAC group defaults are the set of user groups which define who is to be allowed to read and write newly created items by default.
▪To set ILAC group defaults for a specific encyclopedia or workspace for a user or group, expand these nodes: Encyclopedias > < your Encyclopedia Name > > Users & Groups > < a User Name >.
Note The ILAC Group Defaults for Encyclopedias node has been added to the node of the encyclopedia. Any group attached to this node is assigned to objects you create in System Architect, unless you choose a different group at the time you create the objects (diagrams and definitions).
▪To set ILAC Group Defaults for all encyclopedias for a user or group, expand the following nodes: Users and Groups > User (or Group) > ILAC Group Defaults.
