Start the application server

1 Navigate to the Focal Point^® installation folder, and then to the server subfolder.

2 Do one of the following:

Operating system	Command
Windows	Enter this command:server.startup.bat A new Tomcat console window opens. Do not close the window.
Linux or Solaris	Enter this command: ./server.startup Check the tomcat/logs folder to see if it contains a file called catalina.out: this indicates the server has started successfully.

3 After the server has started, the startup time is displayed in the Tomcat window. For example:

Server startup in 2645 ms.

You can now access Focal Point^®: see Starting Focal Point.

Start Focal Point

1 In a web browser, type the URL of the Focal Point^® login page:

http://server/fp/login

For example:

http://rfpserver:9080/fp/login

If you used the Tomcat server that is provided with Focal Point^®, you can use a secured environment. For example:

https://rfpserver:9443/fp/login

Note If you are using Websphere application server and cannot open Focal Point^®, restart the Websphere application server: At the command prompt, go to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\bin

To stop the server instance in which Focal Point^® is deployed to server1, run this command:

stopServer.bat server1

To start the server instance, run this command:

startServer.bat server1

2 On the login page, in the User Name field, type:

admin

In the Password field, type:

focalpoint

3 Click Log In.

The home page appears.

4 On the user menu, select Preferences.

5 Click Password, and then change your password.

6 Optional: Change your user name on the Users or the Manage Users page, which can be accessed from the navigation bar.
