Integrating Focal Point® with other products
You can integrate Focal Point® with IBM Rational products such as Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management, and with other reporting tools. You can also use the SOAP Web Services API and RESTful API of Focal Point® to integrate its features and data with other applications.
The advantages of integrating Focal Point® with the supported Rational projects are:
▪ generate traceability reports about the elements, requirements, test artifacts, and defects of projects in the Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM)
▪ generate reports that are based on IBM Rational Publishing Engine templates
▪ generate reports in external report tools by using an authenticated XML export mechanism
▪ plan, implement, detail, and deliver solutions with Open Services Lifecycle Collaboration - Change Management (OSLC-CM) providers such as the Change and Configuration Management (CCM) and Requirements Management (RM) applications in the Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management.
Integrating with Focal Point® by using web services
The Web Services and RESTful APIs are based on standard Web technology. These APIs provide access to Focal Point® resources from external applications. By using these APIs, you can create, access and modify resources of Focal Point®.

Focal Point® and reporting tools
You can generate reports based on templates that are authored in IBM Rational Publishing Engine. You can also generate reports in external report tools by using an authenticated XML export.

Focal Point® and the Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management
For an enterprise to achieve its goals, the investments in IT projects and applications must be aligned with the business strategy of the enterprise. Focal Point® is used for demand management and portfolio management. Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) applications are used for project execution and delivery. By integrating Focal Point® with the Requirements Management (RM) and the Change and Configuration Management (CCM) applications of the Rational solution for CLM we can derive the benefit of decision making, planning, implementing, tracking, and delivering solutions together.

Focal Point® as an OSLC service consumer and service provider
Focal Point® supports OSLC Change Management (OSLC-CM) and OSLC Requirement Management (OSLC-RM) specification, enabling integrations with other OSLC service provider and consumer applications.

Focal Point® Reporting Server
Focal Point® Reporting Server provides a new set of reporting capabilities to Focal Point® 6.6.1 and later. The Reporting Server can be used to define and generate custom reports that can present data from one or more Focal Point® workspaces, as tables or charts. The reports can be reused across multiple workspace instances.
