Displaying and editing data in a link table
After configuring a link table for a view, a link table is displayed instead of a link list in the table views and tree views of the Attribute list page. The data displayed in the link table can be directly edited. The data, except the matrix data, can also be exported to a spreadsheet, edited, and imported back.
About this task
The link table displays the data according to the display settings applied to the link list. If the link list is configured to display all of the links, or only a link that can be clicked to load the complete list of links, or a paginated list of links, the same configuration is applied to the Link table view. The link table displays only the attributes of those elements that are part of the view on which the link table is configured. If any of the target elements are not part of the link table view, the link will still be displayed with icon, title and prefix, but the attribute row will be empty.
Procedure
To view and edit a link table view on a Link, LinkList, or an Incoming link attribute:
1 Click Display, and select the view for which the link table is configured.
A link table is displayed instead of a link list. Only the attributes of elements that are part of the link-table view, are displayed. The link table view ignores the filter settings, if any, applied to the view. If any of the elements in the link table does not satisfy the link table view definition, the link table does not display any data. If any of the elements in the link table do not satisfy the link table view definition, the link table does not display any attribute data, but the link itself is displayed.
2 Click the Show the links in a view pop up icon in the Link Table header row.
In the pop-up window that displays the elements that are part of the link list attribute in a dynamic table, select or clear the existing filters. Filters cannot be added or edited in this window.
3 To edit the data:
Make the required changes directly in the window, and close it. The attribute list page is refreshed with the changes that you made.
Click the Export to Excel icon to export the data from the link table window to Microsoft Excel. You can save the data, make the required changes, and import back the updated file. The attribute details are updated with the changes that you made.
The matrix data displayed in a link table is not exported, so it cannot be edited.
