Upgrading from Focal Point 6.5
To upgrade from Focal Point 6.5, you must uninstall that version, and then install the new version.
Before you begin
IBM WebSphere Application Server Community Edition is not supported by the latest version of Focal Point: instead, use Apache Tomcat or WebSphere Application Server.
Migrate to the UNICOM License server: see Installing the UNICOM license server.
Procedure
1 Open Focal Point, and then verify the view definitions on the Views page (Advanced > Verify Integrity > Views).
Fix any broken view definitions that are limitations for incoming link attributes, including views in inactive or archived workspace.
2 Log on to Focal Point, and then export the custom business rules.
Important: After you install the latest release of Focal Point, for compatibility reasons, request your custom business rules from the Focal Point support team. Only the common business rules are included in the installation. The common business rules are ChoiceAttributeText, LinkByText, LinkInfo, LinkListAttributeSum, ListAttributeSum, MailImport, MatrixWriter, SetChoice, and TrafficLight. Incompatible business rules are ignored.
3 Back up the database.
4 Stop the application server.
5 Uninstall Focal Point.
6 Install the new version of Focal Point.
See Installing Focal Point.
7 If you have configured the integrations to use a specific port number for Focal Point, ensure that you fix the port numbers to avoid any integration breakages after the installation. For more information, see Setting up the Tomcat server.
8 Migrate the required data to the new version: see Migrating data from earlier versions of Focal Point.
