Changing the DPM database used by UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer
When you install UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer, the UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin part of the installation procedure creates a database called mrInterviewData on the database server that is used by Distributed Property Management (DPM) to manage projects. You can change the name and location of this database.
1 After installing UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin (or UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin or UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation) create a clone of the DPM database SQLServerName.mrInterviewData.
It is important that all indexes and security information are copied. The best way to ensure this is to back up the existing database and then restore it with a new name.
2 On each Interviewing and Accessories server in the cluster, make the following changes in the registry to enable DPM to use the new database:
In:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SPSS\MRProjectManagement\2.0\Site
change the value of INIT_CATALOG to the name of the new database.
If you are also moving the database to a different server, change INIT_DATASOURCE to point to that server.
3 On each server in the cluster, open Internet Information Services and restart mrDPMServer3.
When you install a new version of UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin, UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin, or UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation
The UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin, UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin, and UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation installation programs are not set up to cope with DPM databases called anything other than mrInterviewData. If you are using a database with a different name and you want to install a newer version of any of these applications and still use your renamed database, proceed as follows. This should ensure that your new database will contain any additions or revisions that have been implemented by the upgrades.
1 Reverse the steps you took to set up the new database so that the connections strings are once again pointing at a database called UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer in the primary database server.
2 Install the new version of the applications.
3 Repeat the steps listed above for using a new database.
