Creating a merged data file using UNICOM Intelligence Data Merge
1 Choose Programs > UNICOM Intelligence > UNICOM Intelligence Reporter > UNICOM Intelligence Data Merge to display the UNICOM Intelligence Data Merge tool.
2 On the first pane:
choose whether you want to add cases or variables.
select the data file to use as the first source file.
The next steps depend on whether you are merging cases or variables.
Merging cases
1 On the next pane, select the additional data files that you want to merge.
2 Create or select a variable to add to the output file to distinguish between the data that has come from each of the source data files.
To select an existing variable, click Use Existing, and then select the variable from the next dialog box.
To create a new variable, enter a name for the variable, and add a description for each survey data file. The description defaults to the file name.
Merging variables
1 On the next pane, select the file containing the additional variables to add.
2 On the next pane, select a variable from each file that contains the same information.
3 On the next pane, select the variables from the second data file that you want to include in the output file.
Merging cases or variables
The remaining steps are the same for both types of merge.
1 On the Output File pane:
(Optional.) Choose a language for the resulting output file.
Select the output file format that you want to use. Additional details are required for some output formats. For more information, see UNICOM Intelligence Data Merge: Specify Output File pane.
Enter a name and file path for the file that will contain the merged data.
Choose Next to start the merge and display the Progress pane.
2 When the merge is complete, click Next to move to the final pane, and copy the file path from this page.
Opening the file in UNICOM Intelligence Reporter
1 In UNICOM Intelligence Reporter, choose File > Open from the menu.
2 Paste the file path into the Open dialog box.
