Finding variables
You can move directly to a variable in the Variables pane by typing the start of the variable's name.
To move to a variable
1 Click anywhere in the list of variables in the Variables pane.
2 Type the first character of the name of the variable you want to find.
The cursor moves to the next variable in the list that begins with the character you typed. If it is not the variable that you want, type the same character again. For example, typing e in the Variables pane with the Museum sample survey finds entrance, then education, then expect, and so on.
3 Alternatively, type the first two or more characters of the variable's name to move to the first variable that begins with those characters typed, for example, typing ex finds expect.
You can also search for text that is part of the variable name or description by using the Find dialog box.
