Setting up UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server for offline use
This section summarizes how to install a version of UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server that works whether or not your laptop is connected to a network.
If you install UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server on a single computer using the default Domain option, you will find that UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server works properly when you are logged in to your local network, but not when you are using your laptop in standalone mode. The problems that occur are:
▪UNC pathnames are not resolved, so applications cannot access the FMRoot folder.
▪Domain user accounts cannot be authenticated.
The recommended procedure for installing UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server when you want to work attached to a network or offline is to install a single computer workgroup version of UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server and then carry out the following post-installation tasks:
1 Navigate to:
[INSTALL_FOLDER]\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\7\DDL\Code\Tools\VB.Net\DPMExplorer.Net
2 Double-click DPMExplorer.exe.
3 In the left frame, click Properties.
4 In the upper right frame, click FileMgt_RootFolderUNC.
The property's value is displayed in the lower right frame.
5 In the lower right frame, replace the pathname with:
[INSTALL_FOLDER]\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\7\Interviewer Server\FMRoot
6 Select InterviewCacheUNC and replace the pathname with:
[INSTALL_FOLDER]\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\7\Interviewer Server\\FMRoot\Interview\Cache
7 Select Brad_Backup_UNC and replace the pathname with:
[INSTALL_FOLDER]\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\7\Interviewer Server\\FMRoot\Shared\Backup
8 Click Apply and close DPM Explorer.
9 To be able to access images held in the image cache, edit this file:
C:\InetPub\wwwroot\SPSSMR\ImageCache\Web.Config
Change the setting of the BASE_LOCATION key so that it points to the Master folder:
<AppSettings>
<add key="BASE_LOCATION"
value="[INSTALL_FOLDER]\IBM\SPSS\DataCollection\7\Interviewer Server\FMRoot\Master" />
</AppSettings>
10 Log in to UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin using the DPM Administrator account that you specified during installation.
11 If you want to be able to log into UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin using a user name other than that of the DPM administrator, start User Administration and add this user. Make the user a member of the DPMAdmins role to ensure that the user has unrestricted access to all applications, application features, and files.
12 Open the Services Manager and stop the Load Balancing service if it is running.
The Load Balancing service is used for clustering the Accessories servers and is not necessary for a single computer. If you try to start UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin and your URL changes to http://server1/... then you know that the Load Balancing service is running.
