Improving stability when running UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin offline
If you have installed any of the UNICOM Intelligence Server applications for offline use you may find that installing the Microsoft Loopback Adapter improves stability when running offline. When you install the Loopback Adapter, it becomes the first connection in the binding order that determines the order in which connections are accessed by DNS. If you regularly connect to a LAN and only occasionally run offline, you can move the Loopback Adapter below your regular LAN connection in the binding order.
To install the Microsoft Loopback Adapter on Windows XP and Windows 2003/2008
1 From the Control Panel, go to Add Hardware. This starts the Add Hardware wizard.
2 On the Welcome page, click Next.
3 On the Is the hardware connected? page, choose Yes, I have already connected the hardware and then click Next.
4 On the next page, scroll to the end of the hardware list and select Add a new hardware device. Then click Next.
5 On the next page, select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced) and then click Next.
6 The next page displays a list of common hardware types. Select Network Adapters. Then click Next.
7 On the Select Network Adapter page, select Microsoft Loopback Adapter. Then click Next.
8 Click Next to start the installation procedure.
To change the binding order of the network adapters
1 From the Control Panel, go to Network Connections. This opens the Network Connections window.
2 Choose Advanced > Advanced Settings.
This opens the Advanced Settings dialog box. The Loopback Adapter you have just installed is highlighted in the Connections frame.
3 Click the green arrow next to this frame to move the adapter at least one place down. Your default Local Area Connection is at the top of the list again.
