Copying, pasting, and clearing the table structure
When you are defining the structure of a table, you can use standard copy and paste techniques in the text boxes in the Table Definition section on the Define tab (see
Define tab). For example, you can copy all or part of an axis specification from another table and paste it straight into the Top or Side text box in the advanced view.
You can also select an area of the table structure in the graphical area of the screen, copy it, and then paste it into a suitable position on the same or another table.
1 Select the whole table by clicking within the rectangle that represents the table structure but outside the axes.
Notice that when you select an area of the table structure, its color changes. For example, when you select the table, UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation changes the color of the rectangle that surrounds the whole table.
2 Select a whole axis by clicking within the rectangle that surrounds the axis structure but outside the variables within the axis.
3 Select a variable on an axis by clicking within the rectangle that represents the variable.
4 After selecting all or part of a table, you can click the icons on the Table Definition toolbar.
5 Click the
New Variable from Side/Top icon
to display the Table Variable dialog box and create a new variable based on the current definition of the side or top of a table. This option is available only if you select the side or top axis of the table.
6 Click the
Edit Axis icon
to specify how the variable is to appear on the table. This option is available only if you select a single variable on an axis in the table structure.
7 Click the
Copy icon
to copy the selected structure to the UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation clipboard.
8 Click the
Paste icon
to paste the contents of the UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation clipboard to the selected area.
Note that this requires the contents of the UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation clipboard to be suitable for pasting into the selected area. For example, you can paste an axis onto an axis, but you cannot paste a whole table onto an axis. However, you can paste a table onto a table.
9 Click the
Delete icon
to remove the selected structure from the table. Note that any changes you have made to a variable using the Edit Axis dialog box will be lost when you delete it from the table.
