Table documents
You can save the tables you create in a table document (.mtd) file. When working on a project, you may want to create several table documents and switch between them. For example, in the Museum sample survey, there are two main groups of respondents:
those who were interviewed entering the museum
those who were interviewed leaving the museum.
The two groups of respondents were asked different sets of questions. When analyzing the survey responses, you might therefore want to create three .mtd files:
one to analyze the responses to the questions put to the first group
one to analyze the responses to the questions put to the second group
one to analyze the responses to the questions that were put to both groups.
When you first open a new project in UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation, a new blank table document is created. If you save this file, it is given the same name as the project, but with an .mtd filename extension. However, you can choose the Save Tables Document As option on the File menu, and give the file a different name. When you subsequently open the project in UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation, the last table document you were working on is automatically opened. If for any reason this file is not available, a new blank document is opened.
By default, table documents are created in your own personal user folder in UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer Server Administration. You can optionally organize files into sub-folders if you have a lot of table documents. Provided you have the appropriate UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer Server Administration access permissions, you can optionally save table documents in the shared folder, so that they are available to other users. It is also possible to download and upload files to and from your desktop computer or other network location, and this provides a means of sharing table documents with colleagues if you do not have the necessary access permissions to save files in the shared project folder.
If you have permission to save files to the shared folder, you can also create a template table document file that is used as the basis for all new documents that you and other users create for the project.
Compatibility of table document files with other applications
You can open table document files, created in UNICOM Intelligence Professional or UNICOM Intelligence Reporter, with the UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation application. From release 4.5, this includes variable edits in the table document. You can also use table document files, created with UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation, in the UNICOM Intelligence Professional or UNICOM Intelligence Reporter applications.
Profile tables and difference attribute tables can be created in Survey Reporter and UNICOM Intelligence Professional but not in UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation. If you open a table document containing such tables, you can see the table definitions and you can populate the tables and view the results, but you cannot edit the tables. Table folders created in UNICOM Intelligence Reporter or UNICOM Intelligence Professional are not displayed in UNICOM Intelligence Reporter - Survey Tabulation, but any tables in the folders are displayed as normal.
