Using Metadata Model to Quantum with UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin
In UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin, the questionnaire definition (.mdd) file for a project exists in several locations. The initial location depends on how you create and modify your questionnaire definition:
If you use the UNICOM Intelligence Professional interview option, the initial location of the.mdd file is wherever you choose to save it.
If you use the Build activity in UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin, the initial location of the .mdd file is the FMRoot\User folder.
Subsequently, the .mdd file will be in the following locations, regardless of how you set up and maintain the questionnaire definition:
the FMRoot\Shared folder
the FMRoot\Master folder
the Projects folder on each interview tier computer.
Generally you should use the .mdd file that is in the FMRoot\Shared folder when transferring case data. However, you can run Metadata Model to Quantum on the .mdd file that you saved from UNICOM Intelligence Professional or the .mdd file in the FMRoot\Shared folder.
However, it is important that you always use the same .mdd file, or card, column, and punch definitions might inadvertently get overwritten during activation.
The recommendations are:
If you use UNICOM Intelligence Professional to create and change your questionnaire definition and want to use Metadata Model to Quantum to set up your card, column, and punch definitions, run Metadata Model to Quantum on the .mdd file that you saved from UNICOM Intelligence Professional.
If you use the Build activity in UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin to create and modify your questionnaire definition and want to use Metadata Model to Quantum to set up your card, column, and punch definitions, run Metadata Model to Quantum on the .mdd file that is in the FMRoot\Shared folder.
If you use an UNICOM Intelligence Professional DMS file to set up your card, column, and punch definitions, run the DMS file on the .mdd file in the FMRoot\Shared folder.
If you want to use Metadata Model to Quantum to set up the card, column, and punch definitions and use an UNICOM Intelligence Professional DMS file to export your data, run Metadata Model to Quantum on the .mdd file that you saved from UNICOM Intelligence Professional or the .mdd file in the FMRoot\Shared folder, and make sure that your DMS file does not set up card, column, and punch definitions in the .mdd file in the FMRoot\Shared folder.
To understand the reasons for this, look at how UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin updates the various .mdd files for a project:
When you first activate the project, UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin extracts the latest version of the .mdd file that you saved from UNICOM Intelligence Professional or the .mdd file in the FMRoot\User folder and copies it to the FMRoot\Shared folder and then to the FMRoot\Master folder, and from there to the Projects folder on each interview tier computer.
Each subsequent time you activate the project, UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin extracts the latest version of the .mdd file that you saved from UNICOM Intelligence Professional or the .mdd file in the FMRoot\User folder, merges it with the latest version of the .mdd file in the FMRoot\Shared folder, and then copies the merged file to the FMRoot\Master folder and from there to the Projects folder on each interview tier computer.
During the merge process, the card, column, and punch definitions in the .mdd file that you saved from UNICOM Intelligence Professional or the .mdd file in the FMRoot\Users folder take precedence over any that already exist in the .mdd file in the FMRoot\Shared folder. This explains why you can run Metadata Model to Quantum on the .mdd file that you saved from UNICOM Intelligence Professional or the .mdd file in the FMRoot\Shared folder and why it is important that you use the same one consistently, because otherwise card, column, and punch definitions might get overwritten during activation.
Scriptwriters can access the FMRoot folder using \\servername\SPSSMR_FMROOT.
