Importing users and roles
To make adding users and roles faster and easier, you can import this information from an Excel spreadsheet. When you have the basic information in UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin, you can then make more specific changes manually in the usual way.
Rules
If you import user and role settings that already exist, the following rules apply:
▪Password definitions apply only to new accounts that are created by the import process. Passwords are never changed or removed for existing users even if the password column contains a value. However, when the
MustChangePasswordAtNextLogin is set to
True for existing users in the Excel spreadsheet, those users must change their passwords the next time they login. Typically, users cannot change their password unless they have administrator authority; when
MustChangePasswordAtNextLogin is set to
True, users can change their password regardless of administrator status. By default, all imported users are required to change their passwords at next login. For more information, see
Setting up the spreadsheet .
▪If a description is defined for an existing user or role, the new description overwrites the existing one.
▪If a role or project is specified for an existing user, the assignments are treated as additions to the user’s current settings. For example, specifying the Manager2 role for a user who is already a member of the Manager1 role makes that user a member of both roles.
▪Entering a blank role, project, or activity setting for a user does not delete the existing settings for that user. The only way to delete existing settings is to remove them manually using User Administration.
▪Any users, roles, projects, activities, or user settings that are not mentioned in the spreadsheet remain unchanged. Any deletions must be made manually using the appropriate activity.
Importing user information from a spreadsheet
2 In the left tree, select the appropriate customer account. If you are not using customer accounts, select the System account.
3 Click Files > Import. The Upload File dialog opens.
4 Enter the full pathname of the Excel spreadsheet file, and then click OK.
5 User Administration checks the file for errors. If it finds any errors, it asks whether you want to continue with the import.
Typical errors are naming nonexistent properties or projects, and naming users that do not exist in UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server Admin and that are not created by the spreadsheet. Click OK.
6 A dialog displays progress messages. At the end of the import, a list of errors is displayed. Click Close.
