mrScriptMetadata User’s Guide
mrScriptMetadata provides a fast and easy way of creating metadata using a script. You typically use mrScriptMetadata for the following tasks:
At the authoring stage of a survey, you can use mrScriptMetadata to create interview scripts that will be activated in version 3.0 (or later) or UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer.
At the data management stage of a survey, you can use mrScriptMetadata to add derived variables to your metadata to use for data analysis.
As an example of why you might want to use derived variables, if a questionnaire asked respondents to enter their exact age as a numeric value, you can use mrScriptMetadata to create a derived categorical variable that groups respondents into standard age groups. This can make analysis easier because it means that you can use the derived categorical variable in crosstabulations. Alternatively, if you are using UNICOM Intelligence Reporter or the UNICOM Intelligence Professional Tables Option, you can use mrScriptMetadata to set up an axis specification in the metadata to define how the variable is tabulated.
