When does authentication take place?
Authentication is the process whereby respondents are validated before an interview begins. The authentication process is defined in the AuthenticateSampleRec function in the sample management script. UNICOM Intelligence Interviewer - Server calls this function:
When the respondent posts the authentication or retry-authentication page.
When an interview is started using the project's URL and the authentication field(s) are passed as virtual parameters on the URL. Authentication at this stage is called auto-authentication and it means that you can restart an interview after it has timed out without redisplaying the authentication page, provided that the authentication fields are passed as virtual parameters on the URL.
