Microsoft Word tables export
UNICOM Intelligence Reporter provides a Word Export component, which enables you to export tables and charts to Microsoft Word. The component has been designed to create output in Word that looks good, is suitable for printing, and easy to customize. To use the Word Export component, you need to have Microsoft Office 2007 or later installed.
You can optionally export charts as well as or instead of tables. The charts are created using Excel, which means that you need to have both Word and Excel installed to be able to use this option. If you export both charts and tables, the charts are placed before or after the table to which they relate, depending on the display option chosen. For details of how data is displayed in charts, see
Creating charts.
You can improve table export performance by selecting the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer as the default print driver when exporting to Office applications. If the print driver in not already installed on your system, you can install it from the Microsoft Office installation package.
Word 2007 and later. The Word Export component uses a Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro for the export, because it provides better performance when exporting to Word (up to 20 times faster than VBScript automation). The macro is temporarily inserted in the Word template and removed at the end of the export process. The macro takes as input the tables XML (which defines the tables to be exported) and the properties XML (which defines the custom properties), and a reference to the ActiveX control. The macro then generates the Word document using the Word object model (and the Excel object model for display options including charts). The macro uses the Windows clipboard to copy and paste the annotations, in order to retain any HTML formatting. The copy operation is implemented using a method in the Active X control, and this means a reference to the control is passed into the macro.

"Chart Error" text in the Word document instead of charts
The Word Export uses Excel to create the charts, so you must have Excel 2007 or later installed on your computer to export charts to Word. If you get this error text for all charts, check that you have Excel installed. If it is installed, check that it has been installed with the option to embed Excel charts enabled. You can tell whether this option is enabled as follows:
1 Start a new document in Word.
2 Click Insert > Object, and then select Microsoft Excel Chart.
3 Click OK.
If this fails, it might mean that the option is not enabled and you must install the option before you can export charts to Word. If this succeeds, it means that the chart error is caused by some other problem and might be related to a specific table.
