Managing tables
To create a table
1 On the Table List toolbar, click the
Create table icon
.
This adds a new table to the Table List, selects it, and if necessary, switches to the Define tab.
2 Use the features on the Define tab to define the structure of your table. For more information, see
Define tab.
To change the structure of an existing table
1 In the Table List, select the table you want to change.
2 Select the Define tab.
3 Use the features on the Define tab to change the structure of the table:
▪To add more variables, click and drag to add variables from the Variable List to the side or top of the table.
▪To delete a variable, highlight it and choose the Delete button
▪To change the order of variables on the side or top of the table, select the variable and use the move buttons on the toolbar to move the variable:
To clear all or part of a table
1 In the Table List, select the table.
2 Select the Define tab.
3 Select the area of the table you want to clear:
▪To clear the whole table, select the table in the graphical area of the Table Definition section.
▪To clear the side of the table (the rows), select Side in the graphical area of the Table Definition section
▪To clear the top of the table (the columns), select Top in the graphical area of the Table Definition section.
▪To remove a variable from the side or top of the table, select the variable in the graphical area of the Table Definition section.
4 Click the
Delete icon
in the Table Definition toolbar
You can also remove a variable from the side or top of the table by deleting the variable’s name from the Side Definition or Top Definition box in the advanced view.
To view the finished table
1 If necessary, in the Table List select the table you want to view.
2 Select the View Table tab.
3 If the table has not been populated and you want to view the figures in the cells, click the
Populate button on the toolbar
.
To delete a table
1 In the Table List, select the table you want to delete.
2 Click the
Delete icon
on the Table List toolbar, and then click
OK.
