Modify Variable List Columns dialog
Use the Modify Variable List Columns dialog to change the columns that are displayed in the Variable List.
To open the Modify Variable Types To Display dialog
1 Click Tools > Options, and then click the Variable List button.
The Variable List Options dialog opens.
2 Click Modify.
The Modify Variable Types To Display dialog opens.
3 In the Available Variable Types list, select the variable types you want to display, and then click Add.
4 Click OK.
Fields
Available items
This lists any additional columns that you can show in the Variable List. To add a column to the Variable List, select it, and then click the Add button.
Show items in this order
Lists the columns in the order in which they will be displayed. To remove a column, select it and click the Remove button. To move a column up the list, select it and click Move Up. To move a column down the list, select it and click Move Down.
You can use these items as columns:
Item
Description
Name
The variable's name.
Description
The variable's description. This corresponds to the variable's label in the Analysis user context.
Type
The variable's type in words.
Full name
The variable's full name.
This is constructed from the name of the variable and the names of any items in which the variable is nested. For example, if the variable is nested within a loop, the variable's full name will include the name of the loop.
[ ] brackets indicate the iterations of a loop or grid.
. period indicates a parent/child relationship.
Question text
The text of the question on which the variable is based.
This corresponds to the variable's label in the Question user context. In some data sets separate question texts and descriptions might not be available.
Min
The minimum value that is required for a valid response.
Max
The maximum value that is allowed for a valid response.
Usage type
The variable’s usage type. This enables you to distinguish, for example, between simple and grid variables.
