Integers
Quantum can deal with integers in the range -1,073,741,824 to +1,073,741,823 with an accuracy of up to six significant figures. Numbers with more than six significant figures are rounded up or down depending on the value of the remaining figures.
For examples of how Quantum rounds figures up and down, see
Real numbers.
Data contains integers when there are questions requiring numeric responses: for example, the question ‘How many children do you have?’ can be answered with only an integer. If the respondent has three children, 3 appears in the appropriate column in their data record, whereas a respondent with five children has 5 in that column instead.
Integers are also used to perform arithmetic calculations during the run, for example to multiply a field by a number. For more information on arithmetic in Quantum, see
Expressions.
