solidDB Support Assistant (solidsupport) collects and packages together various diagnostics about a solidDB server, including information about the server configuration and system environment.
In order to collect information, appropriate diagnostics must be turned on or executed before you run solidsupport. For example:
▪ ADMIN COMMAND 'trace': controls the solidDB trace facility, see TRACE.
▪ ADMIN COMMAND 'report': produces a report that contains information about the server, users, and database operations, see REPORT.
▪ ADMIN COMMAND 'perfmon diff' prints solidDB performance counters to a file at intervals, see PERFMON DIFF.
If you are experiencing problems with solidDB, run the solidsupport while the problem is occurring or immediately after the problem has occurred.
Running solidsupport
Run solidsupport by using the following command:
solidsupport pathname
where pathname is the folder in which to save the output.
The output from the program is saved in a file named solidsupport.zip.
Notes
▪ To protect the security of your data, by default, the program does not capture any user data from tables or logs.
▪ For best results, run this program as a root or administrator.
▪ Data is collected from the machine where you run the program. In a client-server environment, database-related information is collected from the machine where the database resides and from the location specified by the solid.ini configuration file.
