The CV-03 shows the planned achievement of capability at different points in time or during specific periods of time. The CV-3 shows the capability phasing as activities, conditions, desired effects, rules complied with, resource consumption, production, and measures. It does so without regard to the performer and location solutions.
Prerequisite
You have to identify the Project when creating a Project Milestone. On selecting the report, you are presented with options to select Start date, End date, Timescale units, and Interval. For example, in the PV-2 data shown below:
The 'Out of Service’ milestone is not associated with the Capability, but all others are. Therefore, you would get a result such as the following, where the ‘Out of Service’ milestone is not associated with the Capability, but all the others are:
In such a scenario:
•No sorting is applied.
•All milestones which match, or are later than an interval and less than the following interval, are listed in that interval.
•The cell color is set to the following color of the first milestone that matches the interval.
•Gaps are shown where a project milestone associated with an interval are not assigned to the capability.
Procedure
1 Click the Capability (DM2) definition in the Explorer.
2 Enter a name and click OK.
3 Click the CV-03 chapter, then click Choices to add project milestones. A set of project milestones is available by default. To create your own Project Milestones:
•Right-click Definitions in the Explorer and select New.
•In the Select New Type for All select Project Milestones (DM 2x) and click OK.
•Enter a name for the project milestone.
•Click Choices and select a Project. This step is required, and you can select only existing projects.
•Click the DoDAF2 chapter and add a Milestone Date.
•Click OK.
4 Click OK.
5 Click the Reports menu and select DoDAF2 Reports> CV-03 Capability Phasing Report. The report is automatically generated in Microsoft Excel.
If the report is empty ensure that Project Milestones are assigned to the capabilities.
