Application and User Location Diagram
The Application and User Location Diagram enables you to focus on the geographical distribution of applications and what Users access them.
The diagram is used to show:
Where applications are used by the end users.
The distribution of where the host application is executed and/or delivered in thin client scenarios.
The distribution of where applications are developed, tested, and released; and so on.
This graphic is described in the surrounding text.
According to the TOGAF literature, you can also use this diagram to:
Identify the number of application instance deployments needed to support the user population sufficiently, that might be spread out geographically.
Estimate the number and the type of user licenses for the software.
Estimate the level of support needed for the users, and location of support center.
Select system management tools, structure, and management system required to support the enterprise users/customers/partners both locally and remotely.
Plan for the technological components – namely server sizing and network bandwidth, and so on.
Understand performance considerations while implementing application and technology architecture solutions.
