Setting an active change request
You can link a diagram or a symbol to resources in the Change Management (CM) domain. These resources include artifacts such as Change Requests, Defects, Plan Items, and Tasks, which are maintained by their respective applications. When you modify a diagram or symbol, the modifications are tagged with the artifact you linked to, and are shown in the Object History window.
Prerequisite
To see the artifact that an object is linked to in the Object History window, the History feature must be on and set to “Full” for the encyclopedia. This administrative task is done from System Architect Encyclopedia Manager.
The Change Management server with the artifacts to which you are linking diagrams or symbols must already be configured as a service provider.
Procedure
1 Open the encyclopedia with the objects you want to link to an artifact (for example, a Change Request).
2 From the Explorer, open a diagram.
3 Select the object that you want to link to a CM artifact as follows:
To link to the diagram, right-click a blank area of the diagram.
To link a symbol, right-click the symbol.
4 In the toolbar, click Configure.
The Create Link dialog from the respective Change Management displays.
5 Select an artifact through one of the following options:
Search by Keyword or Work Item number.
Search by Query. You can choose from the predefined or lifecyle queries that are available in your CM application.
Create an artifact.
6 From the Matching Work Items field, select a Change Request.
7 Click OK.
The updates that you make to diagrams or symbols are now tagged against the active CR. The Object History window shows the CR in the CR column. You can hover on the CR to display summary information, or click Details to open the artifact in its respective application.
