Use the tabs in the Settings dialog box to configure how SAEM starts; create query shortcuts; and set default folders for SAEM functions that use external files.
Connections tab
Determines the default actions, if any, that SAEM should take when it starts. You can set a Default server, User Name, whether or not to use Windows authentication, and whether SAEM should connect to your default server when it starts.
My Queries tab
Use query shortcut keys to load often-run queries onto the queries window. You can create a maximum of ten shortcuts, from Ctrl+0 to Ctrl+9.
To create and use a query shortcut:
1 Click the Text field for the Shortcut you want to create.
2 Type (or copy and paste) a query string in the Text field. The length of this query field is the same as that of the query window.
3 Click OK. The shortcut is ready to use.
4 Click the New Query icon on the SAEM toolbar (or type CTRL-N). This opens the New Query window. If you type a query manually, then load a shortcut, the shortcut query overwrites, not append, the query you began to type.
5 Type your shortcut key combination (for example, Ctrl+1). The query text is loaded onto the query window. You can now perform any query functions.
Note The query shortcuts will only paste in the syntax, in order to run the query select Query, Execute.
Folders tab
Some SAEM functions work with files (for example, *.MDF, *.BAK, *.SQL) that need to be opened from or saved to folders. The Folders tab enables you to select default folders for files used in SAEM functions. The default folder is the folder that the Open or Save dialogs open to when you click to open or save a file. The SAEM functions for which you can set default folders are: SQL Queries, Query Results, Attach, Log Reports, File Manager, and Restore.
You can set default folders for multiple functions simultaneously. When you select more than one function, Set Folders is enabled. When you select a single function, an ellipsis button (...) is displayed next to the Location column.
To set a default folder
1 Click Tools > Settings.
2 Click the Folders tab.
3 Click the function you are setting a default for.
4 Perform one of these actions:
•Click ... (ellipsis button)
•If you selected more than one folder, click Set Folders.
5 Navigate to the folder you want to set as the default, and then click OK.
6 Click OK.
Message Center tab
The Message Center tab controls the setting for the Message window in SAEM.
•Auto Alert: Set how long a message will be displayed for.
