Motivation: Requirements View
The Requirement definition is provided out-of-the-box in System Architect. It can be Addressed to any architecture element through System Architect’s Addressable functionality.
Addressing architecture elements with Requirements
To address an architecture element with a Requirement:
1 Select the architecture element symbol on a diagram, and then choose Dictionary > Addresses > Requirement.
2 In the Attach Requirement dialog, click the Search button to find existing Requirements in the encyclopedia.
3 Click the Attach button.
Other ways of addressing architecture with Requirements
You can also do the following to address architecture elements with requirements:
Customize the metamodel to add a ListOf Requirement definition to existing definition types.
Use the OSLC integration to assign requirements from a Requirements tool, such as IBM DOORS, to artifacts in the architecture.
Visualizing the Motivation viewpoint
1 Create an Explorer diagram of type Network.
2 Drag Requirement(s) onto it.
3 Right-mouse click on a Requirement, and then choose Show Immediate Relatives.
