Querying the repository with 3rd-party tools
System Architect offers a number of ways to query its underlying repository to produce reports on the information contained in. It provides native capabilities and also allows you to use 3rd-party tools.
Using third party tools
System Architect provides the following facilities to enable you to use 3rd-party tools to query the repository and produce informational reports:
Flattener (Normalized Table Builder)
DB Flattener is accessed through SAEM (System Architect Encyclopedia Manager). It maps the System Architect repository to a flattened form, enabling you to run SQL queries against this static copy of the encyclopedia in SAEM or using third-party tools such as Crystal Reports.
System Architect provides an OLE DB provider, that enables you to use third-party tools such as Crystal Reports and Excel, to access the repository information and run SQL queries against it.
Enables you to perform SQL-like queries of the repository information. In addition, the Explorer diagram enables you to use the Reporting System to visually show the output of reports.
Word Reports and Microsoft Visual Basic Application Macros
Enables you to choose from pre-built reports and generate the output to Word. You can also use System Architect's Microsoft Visual Basic Application to create macros to output repository information to third party tools.
HTML generator
Enables you to generate models to a website output.
SA Publisher
This is a add-on to System Architect that combines the power of System Architect’s reporting system with HTML generation, enabling you to produce websites of enterprise architecture information, with output that can be tailored to different audiences.
