Creating StV-2 Capability Taxonomy products
The Capability Taxonomy (StV-2) View enables you to build a structured list of capabilities and sub-capabilities (known as capability functions) that are required in a capability area during a certain Period of Time. These capabilities support the Enterprise Vision that you have specified in the Capability Vision View (StV-1). The StV-2 diagram enables you to think hierarchically; you can capture and organize Capabilities to show their composition in a tree-like structure.
Each capability is, where necessary, subdivided into sub-capabilities and functions, in order to provide clarity and the appropriate level of granularity required by subsequent processes in the capability management process. All terms used in the StV-2 should be expressed only as non-Platform specific, so that terms are military capability-based, not equipment-focused. An StV-2 Product should be developed for each period of time of interest.
