The Application Landscape Report is a definition type that operates in the style of the Explorer Object Report; see Using Explorer Relationship Reports to Create Explorer Diagram for further details. Its function is to examine objects that are currently present in the Application Landscape diagram and add new related objects in accordance with the report specifications. The report is not directly used in the Application Landscape diagram but instead is applied indirectly through the Build Landscape From Template menu.
The Application Landscape diagram is intended to show high level scenarios, these are presented via a projected image or printed within a document.
The Build Landscape from Template builder tool populates selected symbols with generated symbols all of the same size based on the output of the Application Landscape Reports. The presentation font size is dynamically altered for each generated symbol so as to make the diagram as legible as possible when projected or printed.
1 To run the report, in the Application Landscape diagram select the symbols against which the Application Landscape Report is to be run.
Note Symbols that are embedded within the selected symbols will be removed as part of the execution of the Application Landscape Report and re-populated in accordance with the report being executed.
3 If an Application Landscape Report has not been previously run against this diagram, a dialog box appears, asking for the minimum number of columns to use. The landscape builder uses this value to calculate the maximum size of the generated symbols to provide this number of columns on the narrowest symbol.
