Architecting and designing : TOGAF : TOGAF feature support

TOGAF feature support
In addition to TOGAF diagrams and definitions, System Architect provides a complement of tools that fully support TOGAF modeling.
TOGAF pane of explorer
The Explorer (Browser) has a TOGAF 9-specific pane that will automatically group TOGAF.
TOGAF Framework Browser
The TOGAF Framework Browser provides an alternative way to navigate TOGAF information. It is built on the seven ADM phases and the deliverables of each.
If you click any circle in the TOGAF Framework Browser, dialog boxes open that provide access to the applicable diagrams, definitions, and matrices for that phase.
Diagram types
A core objective of TOGAF is to guide you in designing the following:
Business Architecture
Technical Architecture
The Architecture Building Blocks used in constructing both architectures
Views of both architectures (this is facilitated in System Architect via reports)
To enable you to build these artifacts, System Architect provides the following TOGAF-specific diagrams:
Business Architecture diagram elements
Technical architecture diagram artifacts
Application and User Location Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
Application Communication Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
Business Footprint Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
Business Service Information Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
Class Hierarchy Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
Data Entity/Data Component Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
Data Dissemination Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
Event Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
Goal/Objective/Service Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
Platform Decomposition Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
Project Context Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
Software Distribution Diagram — Explorer diagram of applicable type
These are in addition to the large set of other diagram sets that System Architect normally supports, such as the UML diagram set, logical and physical data model diagrams, and business modeling diagrams.

TOGAF reports
You have several options for generating TOGAF reports.
Internal reports
IBM Rational Publishing Engine reports for TOGAF
iRMA reports for TOGAF
Internal reports
The TOGAF internal reports listed below are available by selecting Reports > Word Reports > TOGAF 9. Each report publishes appropriate model information to Microsoft Word.
Architecture Building Block (ABB) Report
Business Architecture Report
Impact Analysis Report
Request for Architecture Work Report
Solution Building Block (SBB) Report
Statement of Architecture Work Report
Technical Architecture Report
You can configure the output settings on each of the reports. You can also customize the default report templates.
iRMA reports for TOGAF
If you have installed and enabled integrated Reference Model Architect (iRMA), you can access the Technology Standards Catalog. The Technology Standards Catalog uses the Technical Reference Model (TRM) reports provided by iRMA and available in the Reports menu. The Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) TRM provides a foundation to describe the standards, specifications, and technologies supporting the secure delivery, exchange, and construction of business, or Service, components and e-Gov solutions.
IBM Rational Publishing Engine for TOGAF
The Report Server Manager generates files from System Architect to create reports with the IBM Rational Publishing Engine Document Studio, which features concurrent document generation to multiple formats from a single template. You can generate Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, HTML, and XSLfo reports. Use the reporting tool to create composite reports from multiple data sources, and be able to create one report with data from different encyclopedias, or from different Workspaces in a single encyclopedia.
The following TOGAF report templates are available:
Business Services.dta
Business Services and Associated Logical Application Components.dta
For more information, see “Generating live reports for SQL server encyclopedias” in the “Integrating with Rational Publishing Engine” section of the online help.
