Creating project context diagrams
The project context diagram is built during Phase E of the TOGAF ADM. In this diagram, you examine Projects and their interrelationships to other aspects of the architecture.
Prerequisite
This diagram presents a global picture of the interrelationships of the following artifacts. Before building this diagram, you should already have created the following definition types as part of your architecture:
Work Packages
Procedure
1 Create a new diagram of type Explorer using standard techniques to create a new diagram.
2 In the TOGAF 9 Viewpoint property, select Project Context Diagram.
3 With the diagram open and in focus, select View > Heat Map Manager to access the sets of analytics that you can run on the diagram to build the view.
4 From the Explorer (Browser), drag a Work Package definition that you are interested in investigating, or draw multiple Work Package definitions onto the diagram by dragging them from the Explorer (Browser) or running the Explorer Object Report, named Work Packages.
5 Right-click the Work Package that you want to examine, and then click Show Immediate Relatives.
Next
The project context diagram can be exported to UNICOM Systems, Inc. Focal Point via a Focal Point profile. Analysis can be done on the Work Project definition in Focal Point and the results of prioritizations done in Focal Point can be brought back as an attribute of the definition.
You can generate ancillary Explorer Relationship reports. The following reports are generic and are available in the Heat Map Manager of all Explorer diagrams:
All Immediate Uses Relationships
Business Processes Related to Org Units
